Veronica the Volvo arrives

Our chariot arrived yesterday on the back of a trailer.

It's an impressive amount of car for £100. While there are spots of rust, they're only small and mostly non-structural. The engine fires up every time, but we are all going to have to get used to using a manual choke again for the first time in 10 years.

We spent a good amount of time last night discussing our decoration theme, which will be revealed in good time!

Photos are on the photos page, surprisingly.

Oh yes we have! (maybe...)

I've been keeping a close on on the Volvo Owners Club forums, and it seems to have paid off.

"I have sitting in the corner of my storage yard a 1985/B 240 GLE manual estate in silver. It's had one owner since it was about a year old and has covered 346,000 miles. It starts easily - even today after six weeks it went first time - and runs well enough. Driver's seat is a tad scruffy, and there's a bit of rust in the nearsde door bottoms, though the tailgate is actually quite good! Will need a plate about 2in X 1in in one inner sill for Mot, plus a headlight, an exhaus back-box and the usual handbrake fettling.
It needs to go, and I can get £100 for weighing it in - and I'd then get to keep the excellent wheels and tyres - but I'd rather it went to someone who can use it either for parts or to put back on the road. So if anyone reading this wants to offer me £100 you can have it! If there are no takers by the end of the year it'll have to go for scrap as I need the parking space!"

I have jumped on this like a starving dog on the last biscuit, and we're currently considering the logistics of getting it home and what we'll need to do with it once we've got it.

Updates as and when they occur...

Oh no we haven't!

Balls. Like a Tortoise whooping the butt of a Hare, some old croney got there before us and stole our Swedish blue Volvo. We are to say the least, absolutely gutted. One has to look at these times of difficulty with a positive view, and it can only be fate that we lost out.

It is honestly a shame as Kim was desperate to build and hook up a trailor with a DJ box to the tow bar-ready Volvo.

If you find a Swedish car for £100, do let us know - 07771 818161. Oh and Nate Dawg has insisted that we will not buy a Saab, so make that a Volvo then.

Car!

We've got our hands on a suitable car - a Volvo, of course, pictured above.

Given it's colour, it's been suggested that we paint a big yellow cross on the roof to curry favour with the locals.

2008 begins

We've signed up for Valhalla Run, taking place in August 2008.
